9 Tip to Look Stunning For Your Wedding Photography
1. Look After Your Skin
Moisturise, moisturise, moisturise! And don’t forget the eye cream. You’ll want your skin to look fresh, youthful and plump, and definitely want that eye bag or those dark eye rings gone! Be a little more conscientious this week, so that you can look Miss Beautiful Bride or Mister Prince Charming on photoshoot day.
2. Go For A Facial
Pamper yourself with a trip to the beautician at least a week before the photoshoot. Your skin will thank you with the extra nourishment, and it’ll also have time to recover from the exfoliation. Be sure to ask for hydrating masks!
3. Sleep Early
We know, we know. All the excitement and adrenaline is accumulating! How do we sleep when there’s so much on our minds, so much to do? But giving yourself the much-needed sleep and rest is essential for your skin to rejuvenate so it can glow, your eyes to rest so eye bags would never make an appearance, and your body to recharge so you have the energy to smile and pose for the camera.
4. Book A Manicure & Pedicure
A de-stressing session at your manicurist is sure to help calm those rising nerves, which can unfortunately make you bloat. Get a gel as it’s more durable and lasts longer. We know you want to flaunt those beautiful nails. Remember to choose a shade that complements your outfits. If you are unsure, opt for a nude colour. It won’t steal attention from you or your beau. Oh yes, French works too!
5. Pick The Right Food To Eat
Choose your food wisely, lest it causes bloating. You’ll wanna look lean and stunning. We recommend lean proteins and just enough carbs to sustain you. Do remember to avoid dairy (includes milk, cheese and butter) though! They are real nasty culprits responsible for causing bloating. Just this week, say goodbye to that camembert. A glass of alcohol is fine, after all, we are all in a celebratory mood, but make sure not to go overboard! Alcohol can dehydrate you and even cause bloating for some. Surely you remember how important hydration is during this period?
6. Drink Enough Water
Water is life, they all say. It’s true. Without adequate hydration, our skin will dry up and look really taut and even flaky. Wrinkles might even appear more obviously! Hydration is key, if you want that glow and that youthful look. Jazz things up by soaking a slice of grapefruit or some mint leaves in water in a mason jar. Who says water isn’t fancy?
7. Put A Face Mask (On The Night Before Your Shoot)
Put on a Sheet Facial Mask the night before (and even on the morning before the shoot!): give your skin an extra boost of hydration and nourishment. Choose a sheet facial mask that moisturises and soothes.
Quick tip: store the mask in the fridge for a few hours before use. The cooling sensation is sure to ease any bloating and make you go ‘aaah….’.
Also, since it’s the night, wind down! Switch off the lights, put on some mood lights and you’re your favourite music. Then, light some scented candles – we really recommend lavender, it’s a great stress booster.
8. Wash Your Hair Without Conditioner (In The Morning Before Your Shoot)
Wash your hair, but just for this time, don’t use a hair conditioner as it makes your hair harder to style! Don’t worry, all the hair masks that you would have put on the week before this day would have done its job perfectly.
9. Drink A Killer Smoothie
You gotta keep those energy levels up for it’ll most probably be a long day ahead. But you also don’t wanna overload on carbs and all that as it might lead to bloating. That’s why our go-to secret is a smoothie as it will keep you full and satiated for a long time.
Here’s a killer and super easy smoothie recipe:
one ripe banana (frozen, if you like), a handful of spinach, a handful of your choice of berries, one cup Greek yogurt, a few walnuts or almonds, and a dash of honey and cinnamon. Blend them altogether et voila!
