What to Expect From Our Proposal Photoshoot
The initial 10-15 minutes that follow after she says "yes!" are some of the most precious and beautiful moments we capture.
This is the time when you two will be embracing and immersing yourselves in this extraordinary moment. It's a window of opportunity that allows us to capture truly beautiful portraits of both of you, preserving the raw and authentic emotions of that special moment.
Following the proposal and after the initial 10-15 minutes, we transition into a short couple photoshoot afterwards for the both of you now as a newly engaged couple.
This post-proposal photoshoot serves as a beautiful continuation of your proposal, providing you with beautiful photos that memoralises this joyous occasion for the both of you.
Frequently Asked Questions
During the planning phase, our clients usually come to us with their ideas. Relying our experience, we can advise them on what we think are good and bad ideas.
Here are two examples of previous conversations where we provided advice:
- Advising against using a blindfold
We generally advise against using a blindfold on your partner to lead her to the proposal spot if you wish to surprise her. The simple reason is because it makes it rather obvious what is about to happen, and can have the opposite effect of ruining the surprise. - Advising against using cards
Another suggestion we commonly offer is to avoid using cards to read during the proposal, because the logistics of managing cards during a proposal can often slow you down and detract from the overall experience.
However, these are simply suggestions based on our experience. Ultimately, the decision lies with you, and we are here to accommodate your choices in any way we can to make your proposal happen in the way you want.
Prior to the proposal, we will hide until the very last moment, until your partner discovers the decorations and preparations you've arranged. Once it is clear that you're about to propose, we will come out of our hiding spots to start capturing the momentous occasion.
During the proposal itself, we adopt a non-intrusive approach, prioritising shots towards your partner that captures her heartfelt reactions. As your partner's reaction is the main focus during the proposal, most of the shots will be favouring her direction and the camera will be focused on her.
Once the proposal is over and during the couple photoshoot session, we can then go back and do a reenactment of the proposal. This allows us to capture additional angles and shots, including your own facial expressions and the moment when the rings are exchanged and placed on your partner's finger.
Once we have decided on a suitable hiding spot, we will use a long lens, such as a telephoto lens to discreetly capture the proposal.
A telephoto lens allows us to zoom in deeply while maintaining a considerable distance from the scene. These lenses are also commonly used in sports and wildlife photography, allowing photographers to capture detailed shots while preserving a significant distance from their subjects.
In the event where there is no suitable hiding spot, we can pretend to be bird watchers and tourists, pointing our cameras up in the sky and elsewhere initially. Only when it is clear that the proposal is about to take place, will we then blow our cover and point the cameras at the both of you.
We typically recommend 1 to 2 hours of booking for proposal photoshoots.
You will receive your photos in 10-14 days, in a custom online gallery.
Aside from the obvious pointers such as the ring and all the necessary preparations, here are 2 additional considerations for your photoshoot:
- Take Your Time on One Knee
When you go down on one knee, take your time. This is not just to calm your nerves, but it gives us more time to seize every moment. Take things slow! - Embrace the afterglow
During that 10-15 minute window after the proposal, take as much time as you need there too, feel free to express how you felt leading up to the proposal and taking the time to savour the moment. This is not only to aid us in taking more photos, but it helps you to slow things down to process the beautiful experience. - Ignore the camera
Just imagine we do not exist, we want you to be immersed and focused on your partner, so don't worry about the camera during the proposal.
We hope these tips enhance your proposal experience! Regardless of whether you decide to work with us, we wish you all the very best in your upcoming proposal. Good luck!
